our approach
Pregnancy and Childbirth are natural examples of your mind and body working together at their peak performance to perform an incredible task. When we can approach birth as something normal, we become empowered in our bodies, we become part of the process we were innately designed for.
Pregnant women and new mothers have a right to good quality support. The transition to motherhood is huge – much bigger than systematic, itemised checklists or statistics. Read how Village Birth approaches the prenatal period and birthing process.
“We are really glad we were able to do this course with Talia! We didn’t have an opportunity like this with our first born. I felt ill prepared for the labour room and lacked some confidence in my partner’s ability to be a strong support. Talia was able to help me think about this birth differently and open up to the idea of it happening the way that I know it can if I can just allow myself to and allow my partner to take on the thinking brain. My partner feels they have more skills to support me and more empowered to talk with any caregivers.”
“The hypnobirthing course with Talia provided extensive information and insight which helped to remove the fear out of birthing. As a Birth Partner, I now feel I have the confidence to advocate for my wife and tools to play a supportive role during the birth. Talia was warm, knowledgeable, experienced and delivered the content in easy to understand terms. Would highly recommend this course!”
“We’re really glad we were able to fit in the Hypnobirthing course with Talia amongst the chaos of 2020. The content was super comprehensive and insightful and Talia delivered it in a way to help us both feel empowered and more confident about our journey ahead. Thoroughly recommend.”

You are built for birth
Hypnobirthing has become one of the most popular childbirth education methods used in Australia for a reason.
Courses are designed to prepare both the mother and her birthing partner for a calm, positive and empowered experience regardless of how things unfold on the day.

We provide all your course materials. Please bring along your own water bottle and wear comfortable clothing. If you have a favourite tea mug you can bring that as well if you like, but some are provided.
Yes, you will have morning and afternoon tea breaks (tea and snacks provided), as well as a one hour lunch break. There are local cafes, the beach and stunning nature walks along the cliff tops from Jan Juc to Bells Beach, to really enjoy the break.
Pain (despite being complicated) is relevant to your perceptions and neurology. Hypnobirthing works with the idea that pain is increased by tension and fear during childbirth, constricting muscles and slowing down your progress. When a mother can condition herself to soften through intense sensations and release endorphins (or natural pain relief), her experience of pain may be lessened. Hypnobirthing does not promise no pain, but often hypnobirthing mothers describe the experience as one of working with their bodies through the waves and sensations, not as unbearable and horrific.
Definitely! There are times where a physiologically natural childbirth just isn’t feasible or a late change in circumstances requires medical intervention. The tools you learn in the hypnobirthing course will help you to remain calm, relaxed and still feeling prepared and empowered, no matter what course your labour takes.
Absolutely not. If you would like to participate in the course on your own that is completely fine as well. For any practical partner work, the facilitator can step in as a partner.
Yes, we encourage one birthing partner to attend the course with you so you can discuss your preferences together and practise working as a team for the big day. The role of the birth partner is an important one and we explore this more in the course.
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You will learn ways to deepen your OWN state of consciousness and levels of relaxation, but you are easily able to interact with others at any time you wish to.
This is purely a personal choice. Hospital classes often have a more medical approach to childbirth, discussing different interventions and pharmaceutical pain relief, as well as the anatomy and physiology of birth. Questions regarding these topics can also be discussed during one of your regular appointments with your care providers. The Hypnobirthing course is very thorough and offers vast quantities of additional resources.
Just remember that all information is knowledge, and knowledge is power to make informed choice.
Generally when you are between 20-33 weeks pregnant. It is good to keep the information fresh in your mind, but you also want time to practise the techniques so you are best prepared. If you are outside that range don’t worry, you can still attend the course. (Contact us for a chat)
